If you hadn't agreed to it you'd have been sent back to your farm. How horrible /sarcasm
She acts like that would have been the end of the world. :/

Reply King_Kindred, June 9th, 2015, 4:23 pm

@IcyPheonix: I doubt she would have been sent back to the farm. She would've most likely been killed for not complying with the charming Prince.

Reply IcyPheonix (Guest), June 9th, 2015, 4:48 pm

He never said 'do it or die' though. In fact, there were no implications t all that he'd kill her for not making the gold. Just that she wouldn't gain his favour and would be booted out.

Reply Ultimate the Hedgehog, June 9th, 2015, 6:09 pm

@IcyPheonix: You're out of you're damn mind if you think there were no implications that the Prince was gonna kill her if she didn't comply.

Even Chris could see that the Prince all but said the words "do it or die". Not every villain is honest about how evil they are like the Fair.

@Ultimate the Hedgehog:
The king did just kill her brother too

Reply artificer urza, June 9th, 2015, 4:31 pm

She could have said "Fine, but I'm going with him."

Reply qazox, June 9th, 2015, 10:43 pm

@artificer urza: Exactly!

Reply Ultimate the Hedgehog, June 9th, 2015, 6:10 pm

Glad she said what she just said. I was getting tired of fans siding against her at every turn. Chris is by no means innocent in all this but she sure as hell isn't all to blame.

Reply Nyzer (Guest), June 10th, 2015, 12:05 am

@Ultimate the Hedgehog: It's still almost entirely her own fault, though. Rumple helped her twice and she barely even had to do anything for him at all in return, then he said he was done and she STILL kept up the lie, even when he warned her after the FIRST gold pile that her plan was absolutely terrible.
Yeah, maybe the conditions for the third deal aren't exactly nice, but she had run him right out of NICE when she removed his mask and then called him a monster, and would have just kept abusing his powers if he hadn't put his foot down somewhere.
At every turn it's Chris who got herself into these situations and ... what, expected Rumple to keep saving her for no real payment at all? Even when she knew what Fairs want most? Yeah okay.

Reply Ultimate the Hedgehog, June 10th, 2015, 2:57 am

@Nyzer: She was just a kid. And the moment she was locked up, she was screwed. Like seriously screwed. They weren't gonna just send her home. She was a naive girl whose fantasies got the better of her. It doesn't make her a bad person, which means she didn't deserve to be a position where she had to decide what the lesser of two evils was in that situation. Yes, she brought it on herself but Rumple sure as hell is terrible for taking advantage of the situation. And he admits it. He knows he's terrible. I just wish more of the readers could acknowledge that instead of just making it seem like Chris is a terrible person that deserved all the shit she's been through.

Reply MilkyTea, June 10th, 2015, 7:57 am

@Ultimate the Hedgehog: I know right? Anyone who would demand any price to help a person in need is a terrible person from the start. No question about it.

And in a world were fairs and humans hate eat other for obvious reasons (they kidnap children!!) and people are so terrified of what you could describe as "fart magic" that they'd instantly throw you in jail for accidentally knocking a maid over, there's no way "a fair helped me" would fly. Or rather, no way that they'd let you live after claiming that.

And yeah, she did try to use one of rumple's lame excuses, I distinctly remember her TRYING to, at least, but princy-poo would have none of it.

Reply Nyzer (Guest), June 10th, 2015, 10:40 am

@MilkyTea: The reason she's getting so little sympathy is that while Rumple has been pretty open about what he wants and about how what he wants is as terrible as it is, Chris spent basically the entire story digging her own hole and trying to duck responsibility for it at nearly every turn.
And this includes her interactions with Rumple. He showed signs of wanting nothing more than simple companionship but she went out of her way to shut that down and turn him against her... all while begging him for favors.
Even here. She's had how many years to prepare for his reappearance and she doesn't even try to negotiate or talk him down from it? Maybe it wouldn't get her anywhere but it was bound to be a better approach than "no, no, this is all YOUR fault!"
I mean hell, he came to her peacefully instead of just grabbing the kid in the middle of the night. The door's open and she's just frantically trying to slam it shut.

Reply MilkyTea, June 10th, 2015, 6:15 pm

@Nyzer: Actually he was pretty clear about wanting her physically from the start, even calling her a cock-tease when she kissed his cheek when he clearly wanted it on the lips, which isn't the kind of kiss "friends/companions" would share.

You're also ignoring the fact that she's basically been groomed to be like this since she was little. She was "the special chosen girl" who got to be friends with a secret magical friend that no one else was special enough to know about, or even see... remember? How is a child not supposed to think they are special when a creature of magical powers tells them they are, becomes friends with them, and only them, and teach her to use magic? She grew up thinking she was something special because -Rumple- made her think she was.

Seeing how humans and fairs don't get along, it was only a matter of time until she got herself in trouble. If this is the same Rumple, then it's even more fucked up then just lusting after a teenage girl a fraction of his age: he may have planned all of it.

Only more updates will let us know! 8I

Oh my gosh its getting intense! I don't know how this is going to be resolved! :S

Reply The_mad_one, June 10th, 2015, 6:13 pm

I guess she COULD have said no, initially. She never even tried to negotiate.

But provided he wasn't going to change his demand, she couldn't exactly have said no.

Reply theInsaneArtist (Guest), June 11th, 2015, 3:12 pm

Just wondering... Couldn't she have at least asked if he could help her escape? I mean, obviously he's got a way in and out, or at least can turn invisible. If it really was life or death, or at least implied it was, I'd have said "Hey, get me out of this situation and safe at home, and I'll give you the biggest, sloppiest kiss ever!" If he said no, either he couldn't or wouldn't, *then* you can say she was running out of options.

Though it's been awhile since I read those chapters, did she ever ask for help escaping?

Reply FireStorm55 (Guest), June 11th, 2015, 3:28 pm

@theInsaneArtist: She did... He claimed he couldn't physically help her escape because she was too "heavy". Apparently Fair have less mass than humans.

But he did kind of suggest she use the gold he made to bribe a guard to get out of the castle. She was just so fixated on meeting the king at that point that she didn't see the "go back home" option as desireable.
